“A goal without a plan is just a wish”. ―
Many people struggle with creating resolutions and some have just given up on believing in resolutions altogether. I think the problem with resolutions is that they are empty promises. Essentially a resolution is a wish. This is where vision boards come into play. A vision board is a visualization tool which refers to a board of any sort used to build a collage of words and pictures that represent your goals and dreams. It assists in manifesting your “wishes/dreams/goals/resolutions/intentions”. They can be either hard copy or digital print. (As an artist my preference is hardcopy).
Vision Boards have been around for quite some time. Creating a vision board is an artistic timeline that is set and created by you, the Self-Appointed Project Manager of your life. During this creative process you fully assess what you want and don’t want and how to go about translating it into a visual tool that you will constantly reference.
I have been creating vision boards for about 5 years as part of my “beginning of the year” ritual. At the end of of every year it has proven to be a worthwhile manifestation tool. With this year (2020) being the year for overflow, abundance and transformational progression, I coined this process as “The Art of Not Quitting”. It is a process of creating a board reflective of all the things my (your) heart, body and soul desires for this year (and decade) – a process of peeling back the layers of your life and reflecting on your true purpose and not giving up on yourself – not quitting.
Steps to Creating a Functional Vision Board
1 – Think about/meditate on what you want to bring into your life
2 – Write down the word/words that come to mind
3 – Gather a bunch of old magazines that contain images that appeal to you
4 – Cover your board with large and small images, quotes, drawings, words and phrases
5 – Embellish as you desire
6 – Take a picture in case it all shifts
7 – Glue everything down
8 – If vision board is hardcopy, take a picture with your phone so that you also have it with you
9 – Hang board where you will see it every day
